Archballista & Tower Mechanical Model Kit

Go romantically medieval and become a siege-craft expert with the Archballista and Tower. Inspired by the best examples of ancient artillery and legendary battles of the past, this model provides a new spin on the classic war machine to test you great conqueror’s skill.

Notes from Alex:

The tower is relatively easy to assemble and contains a lot of details, even on the inside. You're given the choice in a few places to user parts that have either a griffin or a dragon theme. There is a lever that will lock the top half in position so that it won't collapse when the target is hit.

The archballista assembly was quite a bit more challenging - there are a lot of small pieces, and like many UGears models it's not always quite clear what you're assembling until you're done.

There is a wheel on the bottom which extends and retracts the legs, allowing you a wider base for firing and a smaller one for displaying on top of the tower. There is a crank control for elevation, and the machine rotates on the base. Four projectiles are provided, although the autoloader will only work with three installed.

The estimated total assembly time of six hours is about right. It is surprisingly accurate - it took a couple of tries, but I was ultimately able to hit the target and collapse the tower
