This wooden pneumatic mechanical toy is a small but fully functional example of a steam engine, except that it uses air pressure instead of steam to set it in motion. This model includes a built in air pressure gauge and two compartments for storage and spare parts, and is able to generate enough force by squeezing the balloon (not included) or blowing into the opening, to spin the wheels. Be a part of the once great era of steam with just a breath of air!Size: 6.5 x 3 x 3.5 in
Number of parts: 82
Assembly Time: 2 hours
NOTE: The parts layout for this kit has been updated, but some of the sets still contain the older instructions. Use this link if the wood panel layout doesn't match the instructions: Updated instructions
Notes from Alex:
This is a relatively easy-to-assemble model. It is extremely important that all gears are sanded and lubricated as called out in the instructions. For the storage compartment, you may want to lubricate (wax) the sides of the two sliding lids. Also, make sure the toothpicks are the correct length.
You may want to put a tiny dab of glue where the toothpicks connect to the drive assembly - when running at high speed, I found they would occasionally pop off before I did so.
