Dating this is a bit tricky, as variations of the basic design were produced as far back as the 1930s well into the 1960s. Based mainly on the chipboard box we'd place this one in the fifties.

This particular model does work. The box isn't in great shape - it's missing one end. Comes with the accessories pictured, including the elusive internal electrode.
