Hurdy-Gurdy Playable Instrument Mechanical Model Kit
This full-fledged musical instrument brings to light the mechanical power and grace of medieval engineering in 16th century France, where the Hurdy-Gurdy was a king's delight.
The laser-cut wood parts feature intricate details makes this model not only an instrument, but an aesthetically pleasing work of craftsmanship.
Assemble the kit and you'll have an all-in-one product that can be used as an elegant display piece, a brain teaser toy, puzzle game and more. Playing this piece takes you to the bygone era. It is easy to play, and you can play music ranging from modern to folk.

Notes from Alex:
Finally assembled out sample. This one was actually fun to put together - very straightforward. I found the estimated time about right. No issues with assembly, and no broken pieces (although, as with all UGears models, they do provide spares of some of the parts). There is a small hammer provided to assist in seating some parts, but I didn't need it.
It was fascinating to see how the mechanism works, and the addition of some internal planetary gears is a nice touch.
There are some features that are not obvious. The section over the buttons is actually a door that opens so the strings can be changed. There is a lever to lift the drone string off the wheel, and individual adjusting knobs for the height of each string.
The sound...well, this is where "expectations" come into play. Considering that you assembly it from a kit and use fishing line for strings, it's not bad (if a bit thin). Instead of considering it a full-fledged instrument, think of it as a beautifully designed, intricate and ornate model that happens to play (which it is). It also looks fantastic sitting on the little stand it comes with.
