The last weekend of Faire always generates very mixed emotions. We’re sad to have to leave our second home, and will miss all of our friends and shire itself. But on the other hand, we get our weekends back.
We ended the weekend with a little more excitement than we would have preferred. On Sunday evening a very strong storm rolled through, and they actually closed shire for about an hour. We had put the sides of the tent up and made sure the sandbags were well-placed, but even so rather than take shelter we stayed inside and hung onto the framework (which probably wasn’t very smart). If we hadn’t, though, it’s very probable that the tent would have collapsed. Ultimately, we had a little damage, but nothing that was not repairable.
